Telenor Sweden plans to adopt Ericsson’s multiscreen TV technology, and has contracted with the vendor to deploy the system.
The systems integration and deployment of this solution will give Telenor Sweden the ability to provide its TV subscribers with a variety of interactive TV experiences on a range of devices, across mobile, broadband and TV services.
Ericsson said it will be helping Telenor to expand its current TV offering with new services such as catch-up TV on multiple screens and devices, companion screen interaction with content for advanced search and social activity.
Mats Lundquist, director broadband & TV Telenor Sweden, said, “Sweden is a highly advanced TV market, with a proliferation of OTT providers using Sweden as a pilot market for new TV services.”
Separately, Ericsson expects to introduce a set of new products at the NAB Show next week.
The company will be featuring an LTE video broadcast environment. The system is based on what Ericsson says is a unique combination of three new standards, eMBMS, HEVC and MPEG DASH to deliver TV Anywhere services.
Ericsson also boasts it will “redefine the operator CDN” with its new Media Delivery Network, designed to unite the delivery of managed and unmanaged content over fixed and mobile networks.
The company will also introduce a high performance compression platform, the AVP 4000, based on a programmable video processing chip – the first the company ever developed in-house. The product will address multiple applications regardless of codec, resolution or network, Ericsson said.
Ericsson will also be introducing its SVP 5500 HEVC encoder, an HEVC/H.265 encoder for the delivery of linear TV over mobile networks.
The company said it will also have live demonstrations of MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming and Ultra High Definition TV (UHDTV).
“The optimization and management of networks to accommodate the growing amount of video is a key priority for operators and service providers,” said Ove Anebygd, Vice President and Head of TV, Ericsson. “At NAB we are demonstrating how we are uniquely positioned, with award-winning solutions and services, to help our customers to monetize content and maximize consumer value as multi-screen meets mobility.”
