Tellabs has introduced network management tools aimed directly at bandwidth optimization on wireless networks.
AT&T is famously having problems handling the enormous escalation of network traffic associated with the Apple iPhone, and more iPhone-like smartphones are being introduced for other wireless networks almost every day. The variety of different types of traffic is also becoming a management issue.
Tellabs’ new Network Performance Management and 8000 Intelligent Network Manager are the first two offerings in what Tellabs plans will be an entire portfolio of similar products.
Tellabs’ Network Performance Management service provides visibility into mobile data users’ experience throughout the network, from a mobile device to the application server. It helps isolate, prioritize and resolve hidden problems that impact network performance and service quality, Tellabs said.
Now, service providers can see exactly where, when and why data is dropped or degraded, enabling them to correlate users’ experience to actual network performance.
The enhanced Tellabs 8000 Intelligent Network Manager will combine functions from other Tellabs management products into an easy-to-use system that breaks down barriers between network elements for faster provisioning and lower operating costs. It provides a full set of management tools to support Tellabs’ mobile, optical and business solutions.
