Tesla’s first ever SUV, the Model X, is nearing its debut. When the vehicle is available for purchase, the company hopes that it will especially attract female motorists. According to a report, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla’s Model S is “a little too guy centric.” Since women accounted for around 50 percent of SUV purchases in the U.S. in 2014, their purchasing power is paramount to the success of the vehicle. Tesla is getting off to a good start, as woman have accounted for more than half of the pre-order for the Model X.

In the coming months, Tesla long-awaited Model X SUV is finally set to debut. With the X, Tesla will at last have a car to satisfy the consumer’s craving for crossovers and SUVs. With the Model X, not only will Tesla be able to reach the crossover-SUV crowd, but also – according to Musk – women buyers.
