Tesla owner Sarah Day said that she heard lightning strike near the car, and immediately “about 9 errors popped up on my dashboard,” including warnings saying that the car could not be charged. The car remained active for a few minutes, but Day couldn’t remove the charging cable from its port, and soon after she tried, the 12 volt battery died completely.
She said that Tesla customer service was very helpful in getting her an Uber car back to a friend’s house, but the Tesla couldn’t be towed, as it was still attached to the charging cable. It was supposed to be detached and examined on Monday, but public updates do not yet appear to be available.
