Through a partnership with Hiring our Heroes, the cable industry will host a job fair at next week’s Cable Show in Washington D.C. for military veterans, reservists and military spouses.
The Hiring Our Heroesjob fair is slated for Tuesday during The Cable Show 2013, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in partnership with NCTA, the Cable & Telecommunications Human Resources Association (CTHRA) and other local and industry partners, is conducting the hiring event.
The goal of the event is to educate military personnel about the cable industry and connect them with cable companies that are hiring. According to the NCTA, dozens of companies will be participating in the job fair.
“Cable has a strong commitment to create opportunities for the men and women who have so honorably served our nation,” said NCTA President and CEO Michael Powell, who is a military veteran. “This event will help recruit veterans to become lifelong, highly productive employees who will help lead this exciting industry to continued success for years to come. And thank you to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and CTHRA for partnering with us on this important event.”
Cable operators and programming networks, as well as technology and software companies, will be conducting on-site interviews and testing for nationwide jobs. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend career guidance workshops aimed at improving skills, such as resume writing and interviewing.
Veterans, guardsmen and reservists are invited to attend this job fair. Pre-registration is recommended, however walk-in job seekers are welcome but may not be guaranteed on-site interviews.
Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Since March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has hosted more than 400 hiring fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia; more than 14,100 veterans have been placed in jobs.
