With record sales in all regions for the first quarter, things are looking positive for Mouser Electronics. Percentages are up for sales, lines, orders, units, and customers for the company. Additionally, Mouser averaged 699 new customers per day for a total of 183, 892 customers and 45,000 new accounts.
“It was a difficult year,” says Glen Smith, CEO of Mouser at the Tuesday Morning breakfast sponsored by TTI. “But we’re proud of how we came out.”
The company’s focus on local customer support has allowed them to form a reputation as a global company with regional operations. OEM is a large focus for the company, which cites Industrial (54%), RF and Communication (11%), Military (9%) and Medical (6%) as the largest categories. Though OEM is “where Mouser shines,” according to Smith, there is a genuine focus on creating an inventory of new products (74.9 million and counting) to provide for the customer’s needs. The outlook moving forward into 2013 is optimistic as the company focuses on matching new products to new designs, finding customers to inform and educate, and working on design validations, and avoiding becoming “designed out.”
