If you’re anything like me, waking up in the morning will never be easy. What is easy, however, is quickly silencing your alarm with the hit of a button and falling back to sleep.
So for those of us who need a little extra push, this little invention is pretty neat.
The Ruggie, created by inventor Winson Tam, is a comfortable little rug that doubles as an alarm clock. Here’s the catch—the alarm will not shut off until you plant your feet on the Ruggie for a full three seconds. No snoozing allowed.
The Ruggie measures 15.5 inches x 23.5 inches, and is made from rebounding memory foam, with an embedded touch sensor and bright LED display in the corner.
Ruggie is fitted with a USB port, in which users can connect a computer to configure the alarm. You can set your own custom sounds to wake up to, ranging from Adele to Jay-Z, motivational messages or whatever else you see fit. My only suggestion is choose something that won’t annoy you too much on days when you just can’t wake up on time.
For seriously stubborn over-sleepers, you can take this creative invention a step further (literally) and position the rug on the other side of the room so you really have to get up and out of bed to silence the alarm.
The clock uses AA batteries, which the company claims will last for about one year. You can find more information about the Ruggie on their Kickstarter page where a pledge of $110 will score you your own personal, comfy rug alarm clock.
