Dynamic ad insertion vendor This Technology has added former Motorola and Broadbus Technologies executive Jeffery Binder to its board of directors.
Binder is a general partner with Genovation Capital, which works closely with several of the largest private equity firms in the technology and media sectors. He joins Jim Ramo and Scott Gallin on This Technology’s board of directors.
Cable operators and other service providers are starting to ramp up their DAI implementations across VOD, TV Everywhere and IPTV. Last year, Comcast announced that it was dynamically inserting ads in VOD with some of its NBCUniversal properties, and it expects to roll it out more broadly this year. Earlier this year, BlackArrow announced it was helping to provision DAI in VOD with Rogers Communications.
“For a company of any size, let alone an early stage company, This Technology has made extraordinary inroads with MVPDs and programmers,” said Binder. “The fact that the company is working with major operators to roll out a campaign management-agnostic POIS is a testament to the team’s vision and technology. I fully expect This Technology’s best-in-class open system to help customers unlock billions of dollars in potential monetization across multi-screen, VOD and nDVR and look forward to working with the company.”
Binder most recently served as a senior executive with Motorola as general manager of its On-Demand Solutions group and special project leader for then-CEO Ed Zander. Prior to Motorola, Binder was the founding CEO of Broadbus Technologies, which pioneered advanced memory servers for multi-screen and VOD applications. Broadbus was sold to Motorola in 2006 for nearly $200 million.
“This Technology’s board of director members bring expertise around innovation and business strategy and have extensive track records of fostering industry-leading technologies that fundamentally change the market,” said Jeff Sherwin, CEO of This Technology. “Given Jeff’s significant contributions to cable, his in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding DAI, and proven ability to evangelize This Technology’s market approach, he will play a key role in our continued success.”
