Time Warner Cable has bolstered programming for its iPad app with the addition of 37 Spanish-language channels.
Some of the new Spanish channels that are now available on the TWCable TV app include Discovery Español, CNN Español, Boomerang Español, Caracol and Disney XD Español.
The new networks will join the five Spanish-language channels already available for viewing on iPads: Galavision, Gol TV, History en Español, La Familia Cosmovision and Mun2. Time Warner Cable said programming lineups vary by region.
“We are tremendously proud to be able to provide such a significant expansion in our Spanish-language channel offering for our iPad app. This is a big step forward in our commitment to offering the best possible entertainment experience to our customers,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for residential services at Time Warner Cable.
The new content is available for free for customers that already subscribe to the channels, including customers of Time Warner Cable’s El Paquetazo tier. El Paquetazo is currently available in New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Los Angeles and San Diego.
“We continue to do well with our Spanish-language offering, especially in Texas and Southern California,” Time Warner Cable chief financial officer Irene Esteves said on the earnings conference call. “In fact, we’ve increased the number of El Paquetazo subscribers almost 75 percent from the third quarter of 2010.”
