Time Warner Cable Business Class is now offering a session initiated protocol (SIP) trunking service to its customers.
SIP trunks represent a cost-effective alternative to traditional TDM-based voice trunk services for those businesses with IP (Internet Protocol) PBX equipment. Comcast, Cox Rogers Communications and Cablevision also offer SIP trunking services to their business customers.
Time Warner Cable Business Class’ SIP service includes dedicated bandwidth for voice calls so voice traffic doesn’t compete for bandwidth with data traffic.
“Our SIP Trunks offering is an innovative, reliable, and scalable service designed to meet the needs of businesses with more sophisticated communications infrastructure, and complements the PRI Trunk services we already offer.” said Greg King, senior vice president and chief product and strategy officer for Time Warner Cable Business Class. “This further demonstrates TWCBC’s commitment to providing larger businesses with a broad portfolio of telecommunications and IT solutions.”
Some of the advantages of SIP trunking include reducing the total cost of ownership with fewer trunks that are priced less per call, as well as scalability to meet growing business demands.
While the traditional video business stumbled last year, business services have been a bright spot for Time Warner Cable. In the most recent third quarter it added 14,000 new business customers.
