Following up on its iPad app release from March, Time Warner Cable is putting the finishing touches on a similar app for Android tablets.
Following on the heels of Comcast’s Android app, Time Warner Cable’s TWCable TV app will serve as a remote control for its Mystro Digital Navigator and OCAP Digital Navigator set-top boxes.
The app will also feature an interactive program guide (IPG) with seven days of program listings, including full program descriptions, and DVR manager functionality.
Jeff Simmermon, director of digital communications, wrote on Time Warner Cable’s blog page that the company hoped to have the Android tablet app launched near the end of this month, but he noted that Time Warner Cable has a lot of new products in its pipeline that could cause the launch to be pushed back.
Following up on Android’s release of its next OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, in the first few months of next year, Simmermon wrote that Time Warner Cable will offer live TV streaming on Android devices.
