Yesterday, Time Warner Cable Business Class, the commercial services division of Time Warner Cable, rolled out an online backup service for businesses across its entire footprint.
The service, which is called “Business Class Online Backup,” allows businesses to automatically backup computer and server files to a secure and remote data center as a protection against data loss.
According to a Forrester Research survey, 66 percent of small businesses do not have a business continuity plan if their systems fail and data is lost or inaccessible.
“Businesses are increasingly reliant on vital computer data, and their need to protect and maintain this critical information also continues to grow,” said Craig Collins, senior vice president of business services sales and marketing at Time Warner Cable Business Class. “Our new Business Class Online Backup provides our customers with a reliable and secure data storage service that will enable their business operations to proceed unimpeded should data loss occur.”
Features for the service include military-grade data encryption; automatic, continuous backup; centralized management and configuration, including Web-based administrative console; and storage in data centers that are SAS70- and ISO27001-certified.
While businesses have had to cut back on their IT staffs in the current economy, Time Warner Cable Business Class said its backup service doesn’t require any additional software, hardware or other information IT resources.
Time Warner Cable has partnered with Mozy to provision the service.
