Time Warner Cable’s TWC TV app is now available for use on iPhones, which means subscribers can now watch live shows in their homes, remotely manage their DVRs and change channels with their iPhones.
The free iPhone app, which is available for download from iTunes, follows on the heels of last month’s release of the TWC TV app for Android devices. In order to use the app, customers need to subscribe to Time Warner Cable’s Road Runner data service. The app also works on iPod Touch devices.
Time Warner Cable released its iPad app in March of last year.
While Time Warner Cable has a long list of channel offerings for live streaming across Android and iOS devices, it’s still working on being able to stream live video content outside of customers’ homes.
Features on the TWC TV app include:
- Interactive program guide (IPG) – With up to seven days of listings. View detailed show descriptions, including box art. Option to display “HD only” or “favorites only” by creating a favorite channel list.
- Search – Search for programming by title or episode name and filter results by genre.
- Set-top box tuning – Tap on a network logo or “watch on TV” button within the program description to tune compatible set-top boxes directly to the channel.
- DVR management – Schedule one-time and series recordings on compatible DVRs directly from the IPG. Tap on the “DVR” button to see a list of all upcoming recordings and make changes or cancel recordings.
The interactive program guide, channel tuning and DVR management features require a set-top box or DVR running the Time Warner Cable’s Navigator program guide.
Earlier this week, Time Warner Cable launched a Wi-Fi finder app, although it currently only works in Time Warner Cable’s large Los Angeles Wi-Fi network.
