Time Warner Cable will be shuttering a call center in Wilmington, N.C., next year, resulting in the loss of 120 to 130 jobs.
The Wilmington Star-News reported that the call center will close in December of next year with sales, technical and billing calls for the area being routed through a Raleigh call center.
A spokeswoman for Time Warner Cable said the closure was part of a streamlining process and that employees can transfer to Raleigh without having to reapply or pay for relocation expenses. The employees can also apply for other positions in Time Warner Cable’s Carolinas footprint.
Once the call center closes, some of the Wilmington employees could have the option of working from home while reporting virtually to Raleigh.
