The Wi-Fi request line is now open at Time Warner Cable. Time Warner Cable announced this morning that it had updated its WiFi Finder app, which included a “request a hotspot” feature that allows subscribers to ask for new Wi-Fi access points in specific locations.
Time Warner Cable first launched the free WiFi Finder app, which works with both Android and iOS devices, two years ago.
Time Warner Cable’s Chris Monfette, manager, content development, wrote on the company’s corporate blog that users would also receive notifications whenever a new access point has been added to their area. Both Time Warner Cable and the CableWiFi alliance hotspots, which now total more than 200,000 hotspots across the nation, will show up on users’ devices as they go live.
Monfette also wrote that the app also has improved search functionality.
Last week Cox Communications added its 1,487 hotspots into the CableWiFi mix, which also includes hotspots from Comcast, Cablevision and Bright House Networks.
Time Warner Cable has been active on the Wi-Fi front this year with deployments in Austin, Southern California, Kansas City, Hawaii, Charlotte and New York City.
