With more than 150 HD channels, Time Warner Cable is laying claim to the most HD choices in the New York City areas that it serves.
Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region recently launched more than 25 high-definition channels for customers in New York City, Mount Vernon, Hudson Valley and New Jersey, bringing the total unique HD channel offerings to more than 150.
Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable operator, is competing with Verizon in some of the New York City boroughs. In January, Verizon laid claim to having more than 90 HD channels in New York City. A press release last month said Verizon is offering more than 142 HD channels in some areas across the nation, so Time Warner Cable’s claim to the top spot could be fleeting.
“Time Warner Cable now has the HD programming that matters most to New Yorkers, with all the HD games of all nine New York sports teams and NY1 in HD,” said Howard Szarfarc, executive vice president of Time Warner Cable’s NYC Region. “Only Time Warner Cable offers customers the ability to Start Over HD shows and series already in progress and watch them from their start – and it’s absolutely free to digital cable customers. Start Over is available on more than 25 HD channels in the New York City area.”
Time Warner Cable added the following digital HD channels: CMT HD, Cooking Channel HD, CSPAN 2 HD, CSPAN 3 HD, Discovery Kids HD, DIY HD, EWTN HD, Fox Soccer HD, Galavision HD, Hallmark HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Nick HD, TV Guide HD and VH1 HD.
The following Sports Tier HD channels are now available: Big Ten 2 HD, Big Ten 3 HD, Big Ten 4 HD, Big Ten 5 HD and Gol TV HD.
The following Premium HD channels are now available: HBO HD (SAP), HBO 2 HD (SAP), HBO Comedy HD (SAP), HBO Family HD (SAP), HBO Signature HD (SAP), HBO Zone HD (SAP), Showtime Beyond HD, Showtime Next HD, Showtime HDand Women HD.
Time Warner Cable also added CSPAN HD to its basic tier.
Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region serves more than 1.4 million customers in four NYC boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and western Brooklyn), Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley (Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster counties and parts of Dutchess, Greene and Delaware counties), and in Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey.
