Despite the midnight deadline passing with no deal in place, Time Warner Cable and Walt Disney continue to hash out a new carriage agreement while all of Disney’s programming continues to air.
As of this morning, a spokeswoman for Time Warner Cable said the cable operator was still working on a new deal with Walt Disney. While AT&T pulled the plug yesterday on Crown Media’s Hallmark channels https://cedmagazine.com/article.aspx?id=171324, Time Warner cable subscribers are still able to watch shows on Disney-owned channels such as ABC and ESPN.
On Sunday Time Warner Cable and Disney both announced they were making significant progress on the new carriage agreement.
In addition to the retransmission fees, Reuters has reported that Time Warner Cable executives are concerned about online video services, including Apple’s 99-cent TV show rental service that launched yesterday.
