Optinel Systems scored another cable deal, announcing that Time Warner Cable ‘s Green Bay division has deployed the closely-held company’s PLEXiS MFX transport system to support a range of services in northeast Wisconsin.
That Time Warner Cable division serves more than 150,000 customers in areas such as Marinette/Menominee, Green Bay, Fox Cities, Menasha, Neenah and Oshkosh.
“Optinel’s flexible transport platform provides numerous advantages that complement our current network designs,” said Bruce Catter, vice president of engineering for the MSO’s Green Bay division.
The deployment marked Optinel’s second with Time Warner Cable. Late last year, the vendor announced that the MSO’s Hawaii division had selected the Optinel transport platform.
Optinel’s scalable GigE solution comes in multiple transceiver, transmitter and receiver formats, providing 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps of unidirectional or bi-directional capacity per wavelength. The PLEXiS system is capable of supporting from just a few to more than 80,000 video streams per fiber over distances of greater than 500 kilometers, the company said.
“Coupled with our 10G Ethernet product, Optinel offers MSOs a complete transport solution alleviating future concerns of bandwidth limitations,” said Optinel CEO Jim Faust, in a statement.
