Android users rejoice: TiVo has updated its app to include support for Android devices and Atlantic Broadband is offering the newest version of the app to its TiVo users.
Starting today, TiVo users can download the TiVo Android App from the Google Play Store with availability to soon follow on the Amazon App Store.
With the Android version of the app, viewers with TiVo’s Roamio DVRs can stream most recorded and live shows directly to their Android mobile devices for viewing in or out of the home.
TiVo said viewing out of home supported streaming to only one of a user’s mobile devices at a time. Due to copyright protection or technical limitations, not all recorded content can be streamed or downloaded to a mobile device. Some recorded content can only be streamed/downloaded to a mobile device while users are on the same local network as their TiVo Stream or their TiVo Roamio Plus/Pro DVR.
The updated app, which was previously released as an iOS version, gives users full control of their television experience right from their mobile device, including allowing them to find their favorite shows, program their DVRs and manage their recordings on the DVRs.

We know Android fans will love the new ability to stream live or recorded TV shows to their device,” said David Isenberg, Atlantic Broadband’s chief marketing and strategy officer. “The TiVo Android App will look and feel like the award winning TiVo interface our customers have grown to love and enables them to stream what they want – instantly to their smartphone or tablet. The mobile app also allows users to quickly uncover program information, schedule and manage recordings, get recommendations, or even explore an actor’s entire career with a simple tap on their device. It truly brings the entire Atlantic Broadband TiVo experience to their Android devices.”
Viewers can switch the stream from the their Android devices to their TVs by tapping on the screen of the app for a lean back video experience.
The Android app requires an Android mobile device running 4.1 or above with a non-Intel or AMD chipset. The four-tuner TiVo Roamio DVR requires the TiVo Stream accessory, which is sold separately.
