Mediacom has renewed its licensing agreement with TiVo that expands the relationship to include TiVo’s user interface, analytics and intellectual property, the companies announced Tuesday.
Under the product and patent portfolio licensing agreement, Mediacom also has access to the TiVo Gateway DVR, TiVo Mini, and classic guides.
“With this agreement, TiVo will expand its relationship with Mediacom to also include our next-generation non-DVR, our next-generation user experience and conversational voice offerings,” Michael Hawkey, SVP and general manager of User Experience at TiVo, said in a statement. “We look forward to helping Mediacom succeed in the fast-evolving entertainment market.”
Mediacom intends to leverage TiVo’s platform to deliver an enhanced user experience to its 800,000 subscribers.
“Working with TiVo, we look forward to deploying enhancements to our Xtream advanced services offering,” said John Pascarelli, EVP of Operations for Mediacom. “Over the years, we’ve come to value the relationship that we have with TiVo, and the entertainment experiences they help us deploy for our customers.”
TiVo has been piling up licensing deals in recent months, including a long-term IP license agreement with Starz at the beginning of April, but the company still remains embroiled in a legal spat with Comcast over patent infringement.
