Toyota’s head of public relations was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending Oxycodone through the mail. Julie Hamp, who is the corporation’s first female top executive, told Tokyo Police that she did not think she had imported an illegal drug, according to a police spokesperson. Toyota said in a statement that it believes that Hamp’s intentions will be found to be sincere once the investigation is completed.
In other automotive news, former Bentley Design Chief Luc Donckerwolke is expected to join Hyundai and Kia as an eventual replacement for its current design leader. Also, neither Toyota nor Ford are interested in merging with an allegedly willing Fiat-Chrysler, according to a report.
