TP Vision has adopted a security system that enables it to secure streamed content to the Philips smart TVs that it makes and sells.
TP Vision said it will integrate Elliptic Technologies’ tVault, which is based on DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol).
DTCP-IP protects audiovisual content, when transmitted between digital entertainment products, against unauthorized copying, interception and tampering, while ensuring that content can be viewed and copied on home networked devices. DTCP-IP is a key element of DLNA, a set of guidelines for the interconnection of A/V devices within home networks.
tVault for DTCP-IP complies with the latest DLNA specifications (DTCP revision 1.7 and DTCP-IP revision 1.4), including DTCP+, Elliptic said. It integrates with execution environments and ARMTrustZoneframeworks to provide hardware enforced end-to-end content protection solutions for connected media devices. The solution can be deployed for both transmission (source) and receiver (sink) applications.
Frank De Grave, director of purchasing at TP Vision, said, “We required solutions that were readily deployable, field-proven and compliant with the latest DLNA standards that would integrate seamlessly with our extensive TV product lines including smart TVs with DLNA Media Playback.”
DLNA recently published an extension that enables MVPDs to perform multi-screen distribution through set-top boxes.
