A Malaysian company has activated a global CDN service that can deliver both live and on-demand content and can also perform ad insertion on behalf of clients, including over the top (OTT), web TV, and mobile service providers.
Technology partners include SeaWell Networks, Elemental Technologies, Minerva, Verimatrix, and VuBiquity.
tv2u, a company that provides authentication services, billing and content programming set up the content delivery network, which it is calling its global Content Hub. The hub is being hosted by NTT MSC, an IT company in Kuala Lumpur that specializes in multinational enterprise business.
The CDN is based on SeaWell Networks’ Spectrum technology, which handles per-session management, encryption and analytics, multiscreen support, and per session technology for alternate content and targeted ad insertion, SeaWell said.
Elemental Technologies is providing its live transcoding services, Minerva Networks its electronic program guide, and Verimatrix its DRM solutions. The service is using VuBiquity’s (the former TVN-Avail) content library.
The Content Hub was developed to provide operators with a simple way to expand their offerings with live and on-demand content. In addition, broadcasters can obtain new content or extend their footprint with their proprietary content. Enterprises can also benefit by accessing existing content in the Hub, or distributing their proprietary content in a secure and cost-efficient way, tv2u said.
“Content Hub is a cloud-based initiative designed to provide its customers with access and delivery of a tremendous amount of contents,” said Fumitoshi Imaizumi, president/CEO of NTT MSC. “This platform, will combine well with the extensive NTT MSC’s data centers and global delivery network reach. We believe this will be a key factor to staying competitive in today’s content delivery markets.”
“Because of the unique nature of our technology, Spectrum will be deployed within the cloud, as well as on the premises of Content Hub’s customers, ” said Brian Collie, CEO at SeaWell Networks. “Our edge-based solution brings the security and control of a closed network to the open network, while expanding organically with customer growth.”
