Time Warner Cable (TWC) recently announced that Rachel Welch will join the company as group VP of federal legislative affairs.
Welch will report to Steven Teplitz, SVP of government relations. She will be based in the company’s Washington, D.C., public policy office, where she will manage and provide leadership to the federal legislative affairs team.
“Rachel is the perfect person to oversee TWC’s federal legislative activities,” Teplitz said. “We are fortunate to have her on our team and will benefit considerably from her extensive knowledge and expertise of the cable and communications industry.”
Welch began her career in the communications industry more than 15 years ago. She is currently VP of global public policy at Time Warner Inc., where she is responsible for communications and legislative affairs issues affecting the company.
As part of the Global Public Policy team, she assists in developing and implementing Time Warner’s policy strategy before Congress on a wide range of communications issues. She works closely with Time Warner’s business units, including HBO, Time Warner Cable and Turner Broadcasting.
Prior to joining Time Warner Inc., Welch was counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee under Senators Inouye and Hollings.
