Time Warner Cable’s Oceanic division will interconnect services for its video and high-speed data subs in Oahu, Maui and Hawaii after deploying Scientific-Atlanta ‘s Prisma DT digital transport system.
The companies said they are currently installing a fourth segment of the system on the island of Kauai. In addition to serving consumers, the network will also pipe high-speed data services for state government and education agencies.
The transport system will deliver several cable applications—including video-on-demand, high-speed data and off-air broadcast programming—to the islands via a redundant undersea fiber optic network.
Time Warner Cable has tapped S-A’s SciCare Broadband Services unit to handle the system’s installation, integration and support services.
