Time Warner Cable subscribers with certain models of Samsung Smart TVs are now able to watch more than 5,000 TV shows and movies on demand with content from over 94 providers.
After announcing last month it was going to provision TV services to 2012 and 2013 Samsung Smart TVs, Time Warner Cable kick started the service on its TWC TV app yesterday.
Time Warner Cable video subscribers at the Standard (Expanded Basic) level or higher can watch the shows and movies via the app without a set-top box at no additional cost.
“We’re excited to give customers this big screen experience as the fifth major platform we launch TWC TV,” said Mike Angus, senior vice president and general manager, video for Time Warner Cable. “It’s a great addition to any spare room in the home without a set top box.”
Time Warner Cable subscribers can download the app from the “video” category in the Samsung App store, and then launch the app by clicking on the “Smart Hub” button on their remote control. Time Warner Cable sad it plans on adding live programming to the offering by the end of the year.
The TWC TV is also available on Apple iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, Roku Streaming Players and online at TWCTV.com. Time Warner Cable announced last month that it would add TV Everywhere services to Xbox 360 gaming consoles some time this summer.
