Time Warner Cable Business Class is now offering healthcare facilities an HD video service that mimics the in-home viewing experience for patients.
The service, which is called “HD Video for Healthcare,” provides HD video, free VOD programming, an interactive program guide and the ability to pause live TV to hospitals, doctor’s offices, long-term care facilities and other medical facilities. It also works with bedside pillow speakers, and doesn’t need a set-top box for each TV.
“Consumers enjoy robust video offerings at home, and healthcare facilities are eager to replicate that experience to help create a comfortable and familiar setting for patients.” said Greg King, senior vice president and chief product and strategy officer, Time Warner Cable Business Services. “Entertainment is an important aspect of creating a more relaxing, positive atmosphere in medical facilities. Our HD Video for Healthcare solution gives patients the television experience they want, which will ultimately assist administrators in improving satisfaction and drive higher Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores.”
The service features “set back” boxes from ADB. The set back boxes are unobtrusive devices that are mounted to the back of TVs in the healthcare facilities. Bright House Networks, which often works in lockstep with Time Warner Cable, is also using the set back boxes for its HD video service to hotels. Time Warner Cable Business Class has also launched a set back box-based HD service for its hospitality customers.
With the service, healthcare facilities can choose from a variety of programming packages, and insert a local channel for in-house video content. Medical facilities can also display their logos on the guide.
On the content side, HD Video for Healthcare offers access to more than 100 HD channels, including premium channels, music channels and some international video. The free VOD content includes “thousands” of hours of movies and additional video.
The service also comes with an online portal that allows staff members to remotely monitor each set back box in order to adjust features such as parental control without disturbing the patients.
