Dallas is the latest city to launch Time Warner Cable’s home automation service, which is called IntelligentHome.
Time Warner Cable has previously said it planned on having IntelligentHome rolled out across its entire footprint by year’s end. The service, which made its debut two years ago, previously launched in upstate New York, Maine, New Hampshire, the Carolinas, Southern California, Hawaii, Kansas City and other parts of Texas, including Austin and San Antonio.
IntelligentHome offers 24/7 professional home security monitoring, fire and carbon monoxide detection, paired with tools that allow customers to remotely track the daily events taking place in their homes as well as the ability to adjust lighting and thermostats remotely. Users can access their system and have access to real-time information no matter where they are via any broadband connection, the TWC IntelligentHome smart phone apps, and through customized text and email alerts.
“When people move, one of the first companies they call is the cable company,” explains Adam Mayer, vice president of IntelligentHome for Time Warner Cable. “Those same customers often find themselves in need of home security as well, and now we can offer both in one call.”
Time Warner Cable plans on expanding its IntelligentHome platform to other areas, including healthcare services such as home health care and elderly care.
“IntelligentHome is a wireless platform with endless possibilities,” Mayer said. “Imagine being able to check your vital signs at home and then send them to your doctor. What if an elderly relative fell and no one was there? An IntelligentHome may someday alert paramedics to come help.”
In previous launches, Time Warner Cable offered free standard installation for customers who subscribed to another provider’s home security service, if they switch to IntelligentHome. The service cost $33.99 a month while installation starts at $99.
Time Warner Cable plans on launching the service in New York City and parts of Ohio and Wisconsin later this year.
