“No major movement in the U.S. index” has been the Netflix refrain recently for its ISP Speed Index, and it looks like it’s the same for October 2016. Verizon Fios kept its apex position among major operators, with Bright House (now owned by Charter) nipping at its heels. If you include smaller operators, Grande Communications is still beating Fios.
In a blog about the index, Netflix chose to focus particularly on international speeds, pointing out performance in Mexico, where Totalplay rose seven spots to No. 2 by significantly delivering an average monthly speed of 3.43 Mbps in October, up from 2.89 Mbps last month.
Additionally, in Chile, Entel had a bump of 0.49 Mbps in October, raising its average monthly speed to 2.13 Mbps.
India also showed changes in the index last month, with YOU Broadband moving up four spots to No. 4 with an average monthly speed of 1.68 Mbps. That’s reportedly up from 1.51 Mbps in September. ATRIA Convergence Technologies in India held its place at No. 3 while increasing its average monthly speed to 1.89 Mbps, up from 1.71 Mbps in September.
