Liberty Global’s UPC Wholesale has combined local fiber networks in 10 European countries into a pan-European local access service that enables an end-to-end Ethernet service.
The new service allows international wholesale carriers and solution providers to do business with one supplier for their local access needs in the 10 European markets. By connecting all of the different country networks into one single European fiber network, stretching from Ireland to Romania, more than 200,000 business locations in Europe can be reached.
The combined network is managed by Liberty Global’s own Network Operating Center, while local engineering teams support international carriers to help manage their international customers.
UPC Wholesale combined its central service organization with Liberty Global’s existing local country Wholesale Organizations, creating a one-stop-shop for carriers and solution providers. UPC Wholesale didn’t say what vendors it was using to provision the service.
With the new access service, UPC Wholesale is also able to offer features and services such as onsite installation and in-house cabling developed by upc cablecom in Switzerland – within a one-stop-shop-partnering model. The launch of the pan-European local access service followed the successful development of business services in the countries where Liberty Global operates.
UPC Wholesale provides a broad range of wholesale services in 10 European countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2010, UPC Wholesale launched its 10 GigE service across its entire footprint.
