Comcast revealed X1 updates this week that the operator says stem from user feedback on what works well and what could be improved.
The operator reports that “Custom Playlists” in the Comcast Labs section has proved one of the most frequently used features. It allows users to create playlists with DVR or on demand programming and give them a unique name. Comcast is now incorporating this feature into the core X1 experience. Also on the Labs front, X1 is enhancing the new video playback controls that now include an improved “Skip to End” functionality, accessibility options and cleaner video navigation, according to Comcast.
Other new X1 features include one on all sports team pages, in which the platform has a “Team Reminder” feature that can be set to receive recurring reminders for live games, pre- and post-game shows and other programming related to a specific team. Once a reminder is set, you’ll receive a pop-up notification when a game or new program begins that when clicked, will bring you right into the action.
Comcast also says its updated it algorithm to make viewing suggestions more precise. A “People Also Watch” feature was added, which highlights programming that others with similar taste in content have liked.
Subs with full DVRs might want to look to a new X1 option to delete all of the recorded episodes of shows they’ve lost interest in, or cancel unwanted recurring recordings. Comcast also added a “Watch” action to the entity pages for TV Series, which the operator says makes it easier to tune to live content. So, if there is an episode that is airing live while you’re on a show’s page, the “Watch” button will reportedly directly take the viewer into the live show.
