At the NAB show in Las Vegas, Verimatrix today announced that ZillionTV has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV to secure its on-demand library of programs, which are delivered over an IP connection and streamed directly to the television.
Also today, Falcon IP/Complete and Verimatrix said that GulfPines Communications has selected their IPTV platform to deliver its video offering.
The ZillionTV service, launched in March 2009 (story here), is slated to offer 15,000 titles from Hollywood studios and TV networks.
VCAS for IPTV was configured to work in conjunction with the ZillionTV service’s IPTV middleware, which includes specific methods of entitlement for a secure viewing experience.
VCAS has been fully integrated with the Falcon IP/Complete IPTV delivery system, which encompasses content aggregation and delivery from satellite, router and DSLAM on past the middleware where other systems end.
With the combined platform, GulfPines is able to roll out secure triple-play services with an extensive channel lineup and advanced functionality, such as video recording capabilities and parental controls.
The MPEG-4 IPTV platform from Falcon IP/Complete is designed for rural telecoms and combines best-of-breed content security technology from Verimatrix and middleware from Thomson. Falcon also provides installation, signal management and testing services, with final delivery to the set-top box within the subscriber’s home.
