Verizon is about to take off from the free throw line and slam dunk its OTT competition: it announced this morning that it had come to a content agreement with the NBA to bring highlights, live games and original series to Go90, according to the New York Times. The deal has been heating up for a while, and it also makes Verizon the official wireless provider of the NBA.
The deal includes an unannounced amount of live games that will be available to watch via Go90, partnerships and integrations at events like the Slam Dunk contest, and original series from NBA TV. The deal is not exclusive however; the NBA could turn around and make identical deals across every OTT service.
Still, Verizon is going to the glass for a competitive edge for Go90. And for now, it has it.
