Starting Monday, Verizon will start transitioning its subscribers in Maryland and northern Virginia to all-digital signals.
Verizon will cease the distribution of analog channels as part of its agreement with federal regulators in order to aid the programmers’ switch to digital signals slated for Feb. 17 of next year.
Verizon is phasing out a small number of duplicate analog channels on the FiOS TV service. Until now, Verizon had provided these duplicate channels to allow digital subscribers to view some limited programming in an analog format without using a set-top box.
The company also has a small number of customers who subscribe to a service that solely offers these duplicate analog channels. Verizon said that it will provide these subscribers with free digital adapters.
Verizon is phasing out analog channels on a regional basis.
