The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has hired Debra A. Swann as its new vice president of marketing and business development.

Before joining SCTE, Swann worked for nearly 30 years for Verizon Communications in Philadelphia before accepting early retirement from the company in 2004.

She launched her career as a management trainee with Bell of Pennsylvania. Her final position with the company was as president of Verizon TeleProducts Inc., a telecom equipment sales, packaging, and fulfillment subsidiary of Verizon Communications.

Before that, she was vice president, capital management for Verizon Domestic Telecom Finance.

Swann’s “vast business and marketing experience alone makes her an excellent fit for the needs of our organization and its members,” said SCTE President & CEO John Clark, in a statement. “Couple that with the unique fact that she gained her experience in the telecommunications space and possesses engineering awareness, and she is a perfect match. We have much to look forward to as Deb settles in to her new position with us here at SCTE.”
