Video of the Day: Flexible Lithium-Ion Battery

This Columbia Engineering project takes the idea of flexible batteries to the max, with a lithium-ion battery that can bend and twist.

The design was inspired by the flexibility of the human spine. The lower image shows the process of fabrication in which multilayers of electrodes were cut to fit and flexible strips were wrapped around them to form the ’marrow’ of the spine. Image credit: Yuan Yang/Columbia University
