The Brompton folding bike now comes in electric. A video released this week on Dezeen includes anecdotes from the engineers at Brompton about how they tried to use existing electric motors to transform their bike, but found that none were shaped perfectly. Therefore, part of the project became designing the gears and motors anew. In the end, they found a solution in which the battery can be removed and carried separately from the bike itself, or easily snapped on when it is needed. The Brompton is targeted primarily to city residents who use the folding bike for a convenient, environmentally friendly commute.
