Canadian cable operator Videotron added the first 4G network phone to its line of handsets and expanded its mobile services into the Outaouais region of western Quebec.

The Android-based HTC Panache features a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, a 5 MP photo/video camera and a 1 GHz processor. Videotron is pricing the HTC Panache for $479.95, while competitor Mobilicity is offering the device for $499.99 with no contract. With a monthly plan of $40 or higher, Videotron customers can snag the Panache for $169.95.
Videotron launched its mobile services in September of last year. As of March 31, the company boasted a total of 164,700 subscriber connections, including 143,600 connections to its new 4G network.
Since the end of April, the residents of Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean and several other municipalities across Quebec have gained access to its mobile services.
