Videotron is offering its subscribers a multi-room home networking service that gives them the ability to record a show in one room and watch it in another.

In order to use the home networking service, Videotron said its digital subscribers need to have a new generation PVR and new-generation HD set-top boxes. Videotron didn’t say what vendor it was using for the boxes, but it shows gear from Samsung on its website.

“It is blazingly simple to use,” says Manon Brouillette, president and chief operating officer of Videotron. “The multi-room PVR feature gives Videotron customers the best possible tech experience by allowing more flexible television viewing. Once again, Videotron is taking the television experience to another level and offering service tailored to our customers’ needs.”

The service is available to Videotron’s illico TV subscribers in Québec. Videotron has previously worked Alticast on adding tru2way-based interactive features into its TV service and has deployed set-tops from Cisco.
