Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn told a German newspaper Sunday that the company will release a set of budget cars in China and other possible markets. Winterkorn said the Volkswagen plans to release the vehicles in 2018, build them in China and price them between a range of about $8,932 to $12,278. The company had been considering making a budget car in the world’s most populous country for several years, but was forced to hold back due to financial issues. Earlier this month Volkswagen said it planned to spend $25 billion in China by 2019.
