VOOM HD Networks has cut a deal with CNET Networks’ GameSpot to secure additional content for VOOM’s Gameplay HD channel.
GameSpot has agreed to create two new series for the channel, available on EchoStar’s DISH Network. GameSpotting will be a half-hour show of news, reviews, and previews. CinemAddicts will be an hour-long series featuring immersive stories told through cinematics and gameplay from leading games.
Gameplay HD will feature three tiers of programming, including original series and specials, coverage of tournaments, and news & information.
Price Waterhouse Coopers forecasts that gaming will eclipse music as the second-most popular form of entertainment by 2008, with worldwide consumer spending on video games estimated to hit $55 billion in 2008 as compared to $34 billion for recorded music.
