April 26-27. PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE — The 2011 Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference. Partners in Emergency Preparedness annually hosts more than 600 people representing businesses large and small, schools, utilities, government, law enforcement and fire services, public works, the non-profit sector, emergency management professionals and volunteer organizations. His family placed their trust in the Dutch Underground when he was 8 years old. Peter and his mother were hidden on a small farm in the Netherlands, in a cave in the forest and in a home in The Hague.

April 27. 1 p.m. INTERIOR SECRETARY MEETING — Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will be in Washington State to hold a public meeting to discuss locally-driven efforts to protect Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands in the San Juan Islands. April 27. 4:30 p.m. NURSE MEMORIAL — A memorial service for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center nurse Dana Enyeart will take place. The service will be open to the public. Enyeart, a nurse at PeaceHealth St. John for more than three years, died from gunshot wounds the night of April 10. Cowlitz County prosecutors have charged her former husband in the shooting.

April 28. 2 p.m. WORKER MEMORIAL — Parents, spouses, children and other relatives of those who died from a job-related illness or injury last year have all been invited to the Department of Labor & Industries’ (L&I) annual Worker Memorial Day ceremony. Following the ceremony, the families will be invited to participate in ringing the brass bell that makes up the Worker Memorial sculpture on the grounds of the L&I building.
