Wave7 Optics will supply the equipment for two more fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments, one for the city of Bellevue in Iowa, the other for Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power (CELP) in Indiana.
Bellevue’s network will be based on Wave7’s Trident7 Optical Access Platform and will provide triple play voice, video and data services to more than 1,500 homes. Set-tops will be supplied by Cisco/Scientific Atlanta. Black & Veatch is providing engineering, system design and construction management for the project.
The new network will replace the city’s 450 MHz coaxial cable TV system. The installation is also part of the city’s plan to have unified billing for utility and telecommunications services. In addition to consumer services, the city will also offer local businesses 10/100 Ethernet Base-T and other business class services.
Meanwhile, CELP will install the Trident7 Optical Access Platform – configured for EPON – for a new municipal network scheduled to become operational next January. CELP is a community-owned electric utility serving approximately 10,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
