Whaleback Systems and Narad Networks have entered a joint marketing agreement involving a new managed VoIP service enabled by the combination of the two companies’ products.
The two have integrated Narad’s high bandwidth switched Ethernet over coax solution with Whaleback’s managed VoIP service, called the CrystalBlue Voice Service. Using the combination, MSOs can offer small and medium businesses (SMBs) broadband VoIP without having to install a softswitch. At the same time, the solution helps operators increase capacity when supplying multi-line voice to a number of businesses within an HFC node.
The two said they’ve verified that the Narad fiber-fed Ethernet technology is able to provide many times the number of lines supported by DOCSIS, and the out of band technology avoids further clogging of residential bandwidth.
