Windstream announced last week that it had submitted a formal bid on a cable TV franchise agreement with the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State to bring its Kinetic TV service to more than 50,000 homes, primarily across 13 North Carolina communities.
Eligible residents reportedly would include communities in Albemarle, Badin, China Grove, Concord, Harrisburg, Hemby Bridge, Indian Trail, Kannapolis, Matthews, Mooresville, Mt. Pleasant, New London and Oakboro.
Kinetic is powered by the Ericsson Mediaroom platform. Features include HD at no additional charge, free whole-home DVR, wireless set-top, VOD, instant channel change and the ability to watch TV on a PC, tablet or smartphone.
Kinetic market launches over the last two years include Lincoln, Neb., Lexington, Ky., and Sugar Land, Texas.
