Windstream, a provider of advanced network communications and technology solutions, has introduced its own app-based television product dubbed Kinetic TV. The company hopes to address their consumers’ requests to watch TV network entertainment and local channels anywhere. The service will be available in Lincoln, Neb., and 14 other cities including Adams, Clatonia, Cortland, Davey, Denton, Fairbury, Hallam, Hastings, Hickman, Malcom, Martell, Pickrell, Wilber, and York.
“Customers today want access to their favorite shows, movies and local programming from anywhere,” said Brad Hedrick, president of Windstream operations in Nebraska. “Our new Kinetic TV service offers just that. Kinetic TV combines the best of television, movies, and local news and programming, across all televisions and personal devices, making it easier than ever to watch TV how you want.”
Kinetic TV will provide Windstream residential customers with live broadcasts, on-demand video, catch-up TV, and network DVR for any device of their choosing, including their televisions, laptops, tablets, or smartphones.
The product is the result of a collaboration between Windstream and MOBITV, an app-based broadcast and video delivery solutions, and its MOBITV CONNECT product.
Customers will be able to choose from multiple packages that include Lifetime, USA, and HGTV, with an additional option to enroll in premium networks such as STARZ, Encore, and PiXL. Kinetic TV will also include local broadcasts as part of their overall subscription package.
The Kinetic TV Replay will allow individuals to watch any missed shows, movies, or sports up to 72 hours after it airs via the Kinetic TV app. Additionally, Kinetic Cloud DVR enables consumers to access their recordings on-the-go, and store and record more shows at the same time. Lastly, Kinetic Video On-Demand allows individuals to choose from over 10,000 VOD movies.
Kinetic TV does require a Kinetic Internet subscription with speeds of 10 Mbps or greater.
