Windstream opens doors on Little Rock data center

April 13, 2012 By Mike Robuck

Windstream opened its newest data center in Little Rock, Ark., in order to help provision its business customers’ needs via cloud-based and dedicated managed services.

Windstream Hosted Solutions said the 30,000-square-foot data center was built to meet the constantly evolving, stringent requirements of 24/7, “always on” companies. The data center was designed with 2N power distribution and parallel uninterruptable power supplies (UPS).

Windstream has data centers located in or near major metropolitan areas including Boston, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Phoenix.

“As more companies realize the benefits of cloud-based services, the demand for data centers that provide enhanced offerings and greater security has skyrocketed,” said Kip Turco, Windstream Hosted Solutions’ senior vice president of data center operations. “We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the services supplied to our business customers through the Little Rock data center are reliable, giving us the ability to provide the most secure and solid service available.”

Last year, Windstream bought Paetec Holding Corp., which provides telecommunications services to businesses, for about $891 million in stock.

In addition to business services, Little Rock-based Windstream also offers broadband, phone and digital TV services to subscribers, primarily in rural areas.
