WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone this week pushed its gigabit internet service even further across its footprint, with rollouts announced in Ohio, Michigan, and Alabama.
In the Buckeye State, WOW! said it was expanding its gig offering beyond Cleveland and Columbus to include 8,200 residential and business customers in Parma Heights and 13,000 customers in North Ridgeville. The company noted upgrade construction in the latter locale began in August 2016, while work in Parma Heights began in March.
Residential customers in those areas will now have access to four internet speed tiers, including 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and the new 1 Gbps offerings.
“WOW! is always exploring the opportunity to bring better internet to communities hungry for an alternative to their current provider,” WOW! Area Vice President & General Manager Greg Argetsinger commented. “With WOW!’s leading residential and business offerings and our exceptional customer service, our mission is to provide better internet at the best possible value.”
The company this week also announced the expansion of its gig service in Huntsville, Ala., to include the neighborhoods of Madison, Harvest, North Huntsville, and South Huntsville. The move follows WOW!’s initial launch of 1 Gbps service in Huntsville back in October 2016, and comes as it battles for business in an increasingly crowded market. AT&T, Google Fiber, and Comcast all also offer gigabit service in Huntsville.
WOW! capped off the week’s gig announcements with a note that it’s also extending 1 Gbps fiber-to-the-neighborhood internet service to 1,1100 residents and businesses in Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.
WOW! is the sixth largest cable operator in the United States by customer figures. The company came away from an IPO last month with $310 million.
