Fans who liked the changes Comcast made to its X1 sports apps for the Rio Olympics will get a chance to use the features on other sports. Athlete profiles, stats and game details are reportedly among the info being added to every sport in the X1 sports app including basketball, which is about to start the new NBA season.
“More than 35 percent of our X1 households engaged regularly with the sports app during the Rio Olympics, and we’re excited to bring these changes and enhancements forward and make the X1 sports experience even more pervasive for our customers,” Preston Smalley, VP of product, sports and X1 at Comcast, says in a blog.
Voice search is getting more play in the app as the operator notes “What’s the latest medal count?” was one of the most popular commands during the Rio Games – used nearly 1.4 million times. X1 users will now be able to access player, team and game-related stats and graphics through their voice remote. On the fantasy sports front, X1 subs can ask for player comparisons and “this voice feature will be available in the coming weeks for football and will be added to basketball and hockey later this year,” the Comcast blog states.
X1 subscribers using the sports app also can look into pre-game stats such as team rosters, player profiles and conference standings, Comcast says. During a basketball game, they can track real-time analytics, including player and team points, assists and rebounds, shot maps, scoring summaries and post-game analysis.
