Next week, Comcast Xfinity customers can discover free programming from premium channels and subscription services during the company’s sixth-annual Watchathon Week.
Starting April 16 and running through April 22, Xfinity TV customers can watch movies and TV shows from networks like AMC, ABC, HBO, Showtime and Starz. They can also watch content from Netflix, and more than two dozen SVODs, such as Acorn TV, the British TV service that was just integrated into the Xfinity set-top boxes this week.
In an effort to get internet-only subscribers back into the TV service pool, Comcast is offering its broadband-only customers a subset of programming for the week, via the Xfinity Stream app and portal.
Those customers will be able to watch premium shows and movies including HBO’s Game of Thrones and WestWorld, Showtime’s Billions and Homeland, and Starz’s Outlander and Power. They will also be able to watch certain cable and broadcast series from AMC, Fox, FX+ and NBC.
“We love bringing Xfinity Watchathon Week to our customers each year and surprising them with new and unexpected content. This year, we’re really turning up the dial by offering X1 customers a unique opportunity to sample and explore the best programming from dozens of traditional networks and studios, streaming services and emerging SVODs – all aggregated together on the biggest screen in the home,” said Daniel Spinosa, VP of Video Entertainment Services at Comcast Cable, in a statement.
Comcast noted that the full Showtime catalog will only be available on-demand and through the Xfinity Stream app from April 19 through April 22.
